Cayratia japonica, or bush killer, is one of those evil vines, like kudzu, that can take over, smothering other plants by blocking the light or breaking branches with its weight. I first noticed it last year. It has returned with a vengeance and spread to other parts of the yard. It seems to grow several inches a day. Not the clearest picture; I think it was growing too fast!
