St. Luke Methodist Church

Bayou Goula, Louisiana. According to the cornerstone, it was remodeled in 1901. Online it says the church is still active that seems unlikely given its condition.

I didn't try to shoot from a better angle, because I actually got yelled at! That's a first for me and I've taken pictures in much sketchier areas.

It's a sad situation. Many people do not allow us to take photos of old buildings. They fear that this is reconnaissance before looting.

Oh gosh, I’ve never heard about being shouted at for photographing an old building before.
Haskar’s explanation makes worrying sense so I’ll be more cautious in future..

Wow- what a shame to see it in such poor shape if the congregation is still meeting. They must be in really tough times and apparently the denomination is not helping them much either. But to be yelled at? Hopefully not by someone in the church!

@grammyn @olivetreeann A car drove by while I was shooting and the passenger yelled. I assume they resented someone taking pictures.

@olivetreeann So many Methodist churches have left the UMC in Louisiana that I wonder if these small rural churches are lost in the confusion? This is a small rural community and I'd be surprised if it could support a church.
