I was taking a photo of the poppy when the bee flew into the photo. He was so interesting to watch. When he lay down with all of the pollen all over him as though he was overcome with tiny bee happiness, it tickled me.
What a great photo! This reminds me of our bumblebee that feed on the native passionflower, another sedative plant. They literally pass out in the flower and fall to the ground! You can pick them up, and it takes them a few minutes to recover and fly away.
@oconeebell Thank you. I never considered that he might have been overcome by the poppy. He was a tiny little thing, and just wriggled in amongst the pollen until he was absolutely coated. It was fascinating.
