An exercise in still life

I thought I would give the Artist challenge -- Giorgio Morandi a try. I have never done anything like this, and I have to say, that it was a brain pusher. I am not a still life kind of photographer, and when I began to consider what it meant to take a photo "in the style" of Giorgio Morandi, I realized it meant more than just sticking some objects on a table and photographing them. It even meant more than doing that and manipulating them in Photoshop so they looked as though they "might" have been painted...by "someone." As I looked at more and more examples of his work, it truly gave me an appreciation for the genre and people who do it well. Thanks again to @kali66 for including me in the challenge.
You do it well.

This is lovely. You are so right. I tried the first approach last night - and realised that it was going to involve a great deal more effort. I really like the elegant everyday objects this artist chooses and hope to come up with something before it is too late. Well done, you came up with an excellent representation which shows that you have done your research.

Well shot and processed. I, too, am realizing how for me it is to get a shot in the style of Morandi. Certainly making me more conscious of light values. And as I do minimum processing (lack of knowledge, fear of the time for learning curve), I am definitely going to have to work on this. Thanks for the shot as inspiration.

Love that! At first glance, it seems a fairly simple brief but then you try! Very tricky!

Thank you all very much! I can't tell you how many tries I tried before I settled on this. As I look at it now, after a break outside, I can see that I was at it too long, because what was "white" this morning is decidedly purple this afternoon! Yikes! I also realize that the light is not right, and this...and that...but perhaps that is the difference between a painter and a photographer? Always tempted to go back and tweak just a little bit more. I wish you all well in your endeavors and can't wait to see them.

Truly excellent! I feel as though I'm looking at a still life of hand thrown pottery! This is wonderfully accomplished!
