Making my Mark

This is my maker's mark punch.

I obviously need to practice taking this type of photograph so that I can still get detail but have black in the background.

Do you use black plexi or plain glass on a black backdrop to do this. I haven't done any still life photography but would like to try it.

You can take a normal photo then just increase the contrast to get a black background!
