These two doves reminded me of a baby dove that my gardener brought to me in a margarine container when we lived in Saudi. The story is too long to post here but involves hand rearing a baby dove to successful adulthood and having him leave unexpectedly.
@maggiemae Thank you so much! We were so lucky. I think most of that came naturally. The first time he cooed, it was so funny. It was like when our boys' voices changed. He would be cheeping along then this weird sound would come out. I miss him a lot.

@joysabin Thank you so much. Yes, they usually do, that is one of the reasons we were so surprised he left the cage when he did. His partner had just hatched a clutch of eggs.
