Wendy @wenbow is my Get Pushed partner this week, and her challenge was to blend two images of my choice together. The above two images were taken using In Camera Image Overlay (completely out of my comfort zone here!). Because I can't take a straight photograph for the life of me I used Elements to adjust the skyline and then played with Silver Efex to give it a little help with contrast and definition.
My main difficulty was finding two suitable images to marry up and then finding two photographs that could be superimposed to the most effect.
The images used are firstly a bronze bust taken up at the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne near Folkestone, and then one of the beach at The Warren, Folkestone. It seemed appropriate to pair these two as the Memorial Site is dedicated to the men who fought the Battle of Britain, 10 July - 31 October 1940, and so vigorously defended the English Channel.
@wenbow Hi Wendy, my second attempt at your challenge - this time using In Camera Overlay! Plus a little help from Photoshop ... This was challenging as I was winging it here. Hope you like it, Felicity
Brilliant work, fav. I should of explained your challenge better but I left it open to your interpretation. This was more of what I wanted you to do so I probably should of used double-exposure, my camera doesn't do it so I use software and blend images. I'm glad you gave me both, you have done such a fabulous job with both
Beautifully done. Fav. An uncle, brother of my mother, a chief petty officer in the RN died of shrapnel wounds in this battle. He is buried in Dover. Died before I was born but have read some of his letters and he sounded a nice, very lively and fun person. Sad. So pleased there is a memorial to these brave people, I know most were airmen but the navy was very involved too..
This is fantastic. Evocative and very atmospheric on so many levels. A fav for sure. I could go on about it for ages but I'm afraid it would get boring. I just LOVE it.
I wish I could favorite this a million times! I love the work you’ve done here and the tribute. Over the years and in college I studied WWII and still get chills listening to Churchill “never was so much owed by so many to so few.”
Very cool. Awesome image that so reflects your intent.
(I can't take straight photos either but I have found a setting on my camera with a little arrow that lines up with a little line when the camera is straight. It's the most useful setting I've found on my camera so far and I've assigned it to it's very own button!)
