No need to comment, struggled badly with this one. This is for the Flash of Red February 2018, a month of black and white shots with an optional dash of red on the 14th. The first four days are either low key or high key images.
The little bronze ornament was placed inside an aquarium cabinet and I attempted to position it so that it was high lit by natural sunshine. I had to apply a vignette around the edge as despite previously dusting said cabinet, the sunlight picked up the dust I had disturbed which had subsequently settled back on the cabinet ...
Hopefully I shall look back on February and feel happier taking this type of image.
I wonder if turning the ornament sideways might have made a more effective photo with the light catching the profile? Re dust, we all know how futile dusting is!!
Thanks for explaining the "Flash of Red" month - I as pretty confused that there was no red in any of the shots appearing! LOL I like these little fellows - especially the taller one - the highlights give him such a nice expression.
Great low key image. I did this challenge last year, and although I was pleased when it ended, it made me much more confident in using black and white photography and knowing when it works best.
I think you have captured this really well. We have exactly the same ornament. I did it last year and really enjoyed it. You don't have to completely stick to the themes for each day if you are finding it hard. I struggled with some but others were easier. I love B&W.
