I feel I am learning quite a bit from the Flash of Red challenge. It's a month of b&w except for an optional flash of red on 14 February.
The things I thought would work well don't necessarily, but clouds especially can be quite dramatic. This shot is not as clear as I'd have liked but it was a throwaway and the results were better than the church I had been trying to photograph. Think I may have to give up with churches - tried to take one near the village yesterday afternoon and managed to embed my car firmly in the mud. The nearby farmer kindly towed me out with his tractor ...
This is really great! I love the slanting foreground and the opposite slant of the hillside and the dramatic shafts of light. Lucky there was a farmer around the day before or you might still be up there!
I know what you mean about some things working and others not. I find the same thing.
This really works well with all the layers of clouds, hills, and mist. Well done!
FB - I think this is just so good - it really has that feeling to it that Ann was talking about. It's not just a picture of paddocks, clouds etc. However, it must have been a bit embarrassing to be towed out LOL. :)
Love this Felicity ... like the layers and textures created by the clouds and the landscape ... I know what you mean about churches and mud!!! Every year our little school performs the nativity in the local church ... and we always have to have a tractor on hand to pull the parents cars out of the mud on the car park! Perhaps next time I'll take my camera and get an image :)
