Tide On The Rise - SOOC by fbailey

Tide On The Rise - SOOC

Another Nifty Fifty challenge shot.

Am having to concentrate quite hard on not only getting the exposure and focus right but also that the horizon is straight (mine never are). Also having to compose shots with much more care to avoid cropping out the odd prows or sterns of stray boats that seem to creep in to most of my shots ...
After a while, it becomes natural to look at the interference - I didn't use to see all the electric lines across my picture!

I have the same trouble with horizons, well done on your composition here, it looks perfectly straight!

Great composition, I love the little red building on the end of the harbour wall. I know what you mean about horizons and uninvited extras in the photo - don't think I could manage without a little cropping and horizon straightening!

Love this shot. You're doing very well with the challenge. Dunno about you, but I'm enjoying trying to get it right sooc. Steep learning curve though.

This is lovely, I agree a a fair amount of thought before the you press the shutter but you are training you eye. I had a teacher once tell me to look through the viewfinder, start at one corner then go in an X pattern to double check your composition.

@golftragic Definitely a steep one for me! I Photoshop (cook) everything ...I have an elderly film camera which I don't use purely because the pictures turn out to be rubbish. Maybe this will help. Am going to try to follow the advice of @joysabin above

@joysabin Thank you - that piece of advice may well be invaluable!
