In Dalton Square in Lancaster stands this rather magnificent monument to Queen Victoria, built in 1906 and was a gift from Lord Ashton. He was one of the world's richest men at the time as he was in the linoleum trade. The four panels round the bottom show other important Victorians, including Lord Ashton's father, James Williamson.
As you can see, the sky was a little foreboding but it was nice to get out and about. The oral exams are over now, thank you for all your well wishes, they went pretty well. - Lucy
