The Orangery by fishers

The Orangery

More Versailles... this time looking to the side of the chateau where these beautiful sculpted lawns are. The 1080 orange, lemon and pomegranate trees are only on display in the summer. They're all in boxes and they get wheeled inside the orangerie during the winter, which keeps an ambient temperature of 5-8 degrees C. They were all imported from Portugal and Italy - Louis XIV didn't like to wait for anything to grow! - Lucy
Love the layout and superb information. Fav.
