More Versailles... this time looking to the side of the chateau where these beautiful sculpted lawns are. The 1080 orange, lemon and pomegranate trees are only on display in the summer. They're all in boxes and they get wheeled inside the orangerie during the winter, which keeps an ambient temperature of 5-8 degrees C. They were all imported from Portugal and Italy - Louis XIV didn't like to wait for anything to grow! - Lucy
Beautiful view and capture of this great style garden. Great explanation too. Funny , 6 pic.`s ago on the 05-23, I`ve try to tell (explain) my followers the use of the orangerie , as they have a long tradition in Holland too.
