Freight Train heads for the main line by fishers

Freight Train heads for the main line

I went for a walk yesterday looking for possible viewpoints when the Tour de France leaves York in about 3 weeks time.

Part of the route took me over a bridge with a view of the main railway line north towards Scotland, and an array of freight sidings.

This locomotive operated by Freightliner was pulling a rake of container wagons out of rather weed infested sidings towards the main line. The twisting row of wagons, as the train negotiated various sets of points, caught my eye, so I thought you might like a look too.

@ceilidh

Thank you Margaret, glad you like it. As for the Tour, I've got a couple of possible places to get photos, but it's quite a challenge as they pass so quickly, and there is only a fraction of a second to get a result. I did have a go at shooting the city centre cycling last summer - they passed every few minutes so there were lots of chances for a shot! - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2013-07-23

Thank you Cathie - I'm not sure if I prefer this kind of shot, or seeing them storming down the main line at 70mph!
