Some of the walking I had planned to do while visiting Louise ended up being curtailed due to the high temperatures and humidity - it's not much fun walking in such uncomfortable conditions! I decided to go on an extended bus trip to the beautiful city of Oxford on one of the hot days.
The town was very busy, there were many tour groups, and several graduation ceremonies were taking place. I was unsure which of the many photos taken that day I should post here, but in the end I was rather amused by this shot of punting on the River Cherwell. I tend to think of punting as a predominantly male task (am I being sexist?), but here a young woman takes a group of young men on a trip along the River Cherwell. Their very relaxed pose caught my eye. There were also several other women punting, with other groups of young men, so perhaps my image of punting as a male pursuit is rather dated!
I enjoyed visiting Oxford - it’s a beautiful place with lots of lovely architecture and fascinating history. I spent a little time talking to a young German woman who returns here each summer and who was obviously deeply in love with this attractive place. On boarding the bus to return from Oxford the driver was surprised by my City of York concessionary pass - it turns out he was from York too but had moved south. Small World!
What a great find and interesting capture. Looks like the guys are having fun so much so they too are taking a picture. I think she deciding to flip the boat or not. LOL and FAV
This won`t happen in my world. A girl doing the work and the boy`s being lazy. . I guest it`s old fashion . The times are changing and I`m an old guy liking old traditions.
Great capture nevertheless.
Thank you Cathrine, and thank you for the fav! I actually did see this group later further downstream, so she had obviously resisted the temptation to lighten her load!
Thank you Lynne - I did go through the market, but not much time to browse. The whole Oxford tour was a bit rushed because there was so much I wanted to see. A few hours isn't enough - a few days would have been better!
Great capture nevertheless.
Thank you Dianne - the lads seem to be enjoying their lazy ride anyway!

Thank you Ivan - the boys are certainly relaxed, not so sure about the girl!

Thank you Molly - it was a chance glance from a bridge when I saw this, and I couldn't resist a shot, and watching for a while.

Thank you Bob, glad you like it.

Thank you Ferry, and in some ways I agree with you, but women wanted equality, so I guess they have to take the hard bits as well as the easy things.

Thank you Therese, glad you like it.
