While wandering around Roundhay Park, I noticed a sign which said 'Specialist Gardens'. This intrigued me, so I was off to investigate.
The garden shown here is known as the Alhambra Garden, and is a faithful reproduction of the Patio Acequia in Granada, Spain. Although hedges replace the buildings surrounding the original garden, they are themselves a copy of another popular garden in the Alhambra.
Other gardens included recreations of some of the Leeds City Council entries for the Chelsea Flower show, including one which was the first local authority entry to win a gold medal award, in 2010.
This information is from an excellent series of information boards scattered through the various gardens.
Thank you all for your comments and favs - it's nice to hear from you.
I did not realise when I posted this, that Lucy had visited the original Alhambra gardens during the time she lived in Spain in 2012, so when I get chance it will be interesting to look through her photo archive to compare this garden with the original.
