Rochdale Canal, Hebden Bridge
Hebden Bridge started life as a small hamlet around a bridging point over Hebden Beck.
The Industrial revolution saw the town grow into an important textile centre, especially with the construction of the Rochdale Canal pictured here.

Looks like a busy canal. Do people live on these barges? And are they self powered? Nicely composed with the industrial buildings in the background.

It's many a long year since I was last in Hebden Bridge but it looks every bit as picturesque as I remember it.

Thank you for your lovely comments and favs. I love watching the narrow boats, especially in locks. Many of these boats are now used at weekends and for holidays. They each have their own engine although occasionally a traditional horse drawn one is seen, in fact you used to be able to have a short trip on one.
