All Change

Railway services in York are going through a period of change, with new trains being introduced by several operators. Here I caught my first glimpse of one of the new trains due to work services between Scarborough or Middlesborough to Manchester Airport or Liverpool. This was a crew training run from Manchester to Scarborough, running through a tight curve at York station as it heads onto Scarborough Bridge. It will be interesting to see what these new trains are like to travel in. If nothing else it should be easier to get a seat, since current 3 coach trains are being replaced by these 5 coach trains.

@julzmaioro @dide @seattlite @pyrrhula @stevepam Thank you all for your comments. I am looking forward to travelling on these new trains to find how they compare with their predecessors. I presume they will come into passenger use with the May timetable change.

Where's the funnel and the coal-tender... it's not a proper train without those!

@vignouse Sorry Richard, I'll try again (see new post on 9th March). At least this train has a locomotive at the opposite end and not the vibrations of underfloor engines!
