A challenging train journey back from visiting dad, has resulted in yesterdays picture being posted today!
This pretty view looks over part of Rosedale Abbey towards the hillside of Chimney Bank. Some evidence of the areas mining history can still be seen on the hillside with it being possible to see kilns, quarries and mineheads. There used to be a large chimney that could be seen on Chimney Bank - hence the name, but this was demolished round about 1970. Many years ago the cycle race known as the Milk Race or Tour de Britain used to go up the hill. I decided not to walk up it!
Thank you for your lovely comments and fav,
I am sure that at some point in the season we will take pictures of the kilns, quarries and mines at the top of Chimney Bank. I am pleased to say that I will not have to climb the hill to do this!
