Dragon Heads, Scarborough by fishers

Dragon Heads, Scarborough

There are days which don't quite work out as planned. I went to Pickering on the Moorsbus this morning, before joining the Pickering to Scarborough bus with the intention of getting off at one of the wayside villages to explore village and surrounding countryside. However, it began raining quite heavily, so I stayed on the Scarborough bus through to Scarborough. It was still raining, but at least there are places to go inside for shelter.

Later, when the rain had stopped I went to Peasholm Park and enjoyed lovely sunshine for almost 2 hours.

As I walked around the lake and passed the landing stage, I spotted this row of dragon heads on the pedalos and I liked the effect, so here they are.

I like the range of colours here. I remember my mum telling me about visiting peasholme park. I was 5 when we moved away from Middlesbrough so don't really remember the park myself.

The dragons all look rather grumpy don't they. The probably don't like the rain.

Peasholm Park brought back memories of childhood. My Nanna lived in Scarborough and we used to spend the summer holidays with her. She lived on Scalby Road not far from the park.

Thank you all for your comments and fav, they are very much appreciated!

It's interesting that two of you mentioned childhood visits to Peasholm Park. Scarborough was once one of the most popular holiday resorts in the north of England, and a visit to Peasholm Park was an essential part of that, with music concerts performed from the bandstand in the lake, a naval battle recreation using large model boats on the lake, and the illuminated walk at night on the island in the lake. Memories, memories....

They look more like a deterrent than an invitation to have fun!!

@will_wooderson Thank you William - they were probably unhappy at being out in the rain!
