I rather like the glittery pattern on the surface of the ice on Rawcliffe Lake a few days ago, highlighted by the low winter sunlight. The bigger pieces of ice on the surface had been thrown there by a group of young people. I was glad to see they didn't try and walk on the ice. It was very thin in places and would not have been safe to walk on.
Found myself reverting 40 years to the twist on the TV cereal ad we used to sing when the weather did this: icicles are twicicles as nicicles! Odd the way your mind throws long forgotten things back at you sometimes!
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
It is always interesting to walk around the lake - watching the changing seasons, the varieties of weather, the effect of light on the water, and meeting others (in a socially distanced way) enjoying the attraction of the lake.
delightful capture, looks so cool to see the ice floating on a lake

Remember, South Africa does not really have snow, so I find these photos fascinating and romantic
