Another shot from the Danum Museum in Doncaster, and this series of shots from there is in danger of becoming a transport review!
Vehicles like this Co-op delivery tricycle were once a common sight in British towns and cities, with boys delivering the daily or weekly shopping on them to those who struggled to get out.
I can remember in the 1960s a Walls ice cream delivery tricycle simular in style to this going round the housing estate where we lived, and a regular treat was an ice cream block to eat with jelly as part of our Sunday tea.
They can still occasionally be seen today. Such tricycles are still produced in the UK by a company called Pashley. The same company also produce the 'Boris Bikes' for the hire scheme in London.
Nice find. And made for a kind purpose. Today, especially with Covid19, many households in Malta dine at home with home-delivered food orders but on motor bikes.
Thank you for your lovely comments and favs. They are appreciated. It would be nice to see these bikes being used again for local deliveries.

Reminds me of my first Saturday job which was also with the Co op, part of which was to deliver fish and poultry orders on a shop bike with the large wicker basket on the front. Great shot and narrative. Fav

Thank you Bri, and thank you for the fav! I think these are an interesting piece of history which could be revived and used quite effectively.

I remember well the first time I saw something in a museum that was from my childhood, and I was only about 35 years old. It came as quite a shock!
