Right in the heart of York is this quiet and attractive little street. Access by road is behind me, but I can't ever remember a car being driven here. In fact there are very few people to be seen walking here. I passed only one person as I went along the street. And yet this is only a short distance from the tourist heart of the city.
The buildings are an interesting mix, but with a distinctly Georgian emphasis. The arch at the end of the street ahead of me features in the Snickelways book, a tour of some of the quiet alleys and lanes in the city centre.
I will post another photo tomorrow which will show just how close this is to the heart of the city.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I love these hidden corners of York. Back in my student days, 50 years ago, I was involved with a land use study of the city centre, which involved quite a lot of fieldwork, and that is when I began to discover the hidden corners of the city.
