This shot is another from the street shown in yesterday's photo. I walked further into yesterday's view before turning and taking this shot, and yes, the street, known as Precentor's Court, is immediately to the west of the west front of York Minster.
I love the way the Minster towers over it's surroundings, and how it is a landmark visible from many parts of the city, and far beyond.
Although certainly in existence by 1313, the street does not appear on a map until 1610, and it is not given a name (Precentor's Lane) until 1722. It was given its current name exactly a century later.
I love the colours of that tree at this time of year.
