Compassion

Out on a long run today we encountered a field full of many, many bullocks, and a little later some very curious and very bleaty lambs. Unusually the lambs didn't shy away from me nor seem to have a mother coming to protect them. One in particular was desperately trying to nuzzle and suckle. It followed me to the extent I had to exit the field without looking back in the end, or else I wouldn't have been able to leave. I could hear it bleating woefully as I left.

People eat these babies. Maybe even these babies will be killed to be part of someone's dinner soon. Or maybe they're being kept alive for some future abuse. I don't know, and I apologised to them in advance for the things humans do.

Thank you little ones for making me smile and trusting me.
