I experimented today with glycerin drop reflection photos . . . this image isn't exactly what I had planned but I spent a couple of hours on the project so I decided I still wanted to post one of the images.
What I learned . . . I need a focusing rail to use with my macro lens in order to use the focus stacking technique if I want to keep every detail reflected in the drop of glycerin in focus from front to back. This would be the same for any of my macro shots to keep the entire subject fully in focus. So, I think I'll check out macro focusing rails on Amazon. :-)
Very nice shot. I have a macro rail that I bought last March at the photography show and totally forgot about it. I have never used it. Thanks for reminding me.
I see Top Twenty looming for you! This is just spectacular! What a wonderful image! (I was just reading about the focusing rails... Will our need for "the Toys" never end?
I've no idea what you wanted but think this looks great. I'm shuddering at the thought of having to understand and obtain all this equipment in order to improve my photography. Would love to see how this could be improved!
