Not Just Any Old Mr. Cardinal by gaylewood

Not Just Any Old Mr. Cardinal

This is Mr. Cardinal with the split beak. Last February I posted a photo of Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal sharing the feeder and at that time I noticed the male had a split beak. Here is a link to that original photo:

When I was taking photos of cardinals on Monday, I was surprised to notice that it was the same Mr. Cardinal with the split beak. Mrs. Cardinal was sitting on a branch waiting patiently as he was eating. I posted a photo of Mrs. Cardinal waiting patiently in my Extras album:

I'm happy to know Mr. Cardinal with the split beak is doing well and that Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal are still visiting my feeders.

He seems to be okay - I guess he can get enough nourishment with his beak broken. I know I would be in trouble if I didn’t fave my two front teeth!

Still beautiful, despite the damaged beak and if he were to have any sort of image problem, your wonderful photo should sort that out. Both Mr and Mrs are great shots Gayle.

Happy that he is doing well. He looks happy and healthy and that is probably the reason the female is waiting ;) Wonder what caused that split beak, though.

A beautifully coloured bird.

These are both great shots Gayle - I love the catchlights in the eyes. How cool to know that it's the same Mr Cardinal from before. Assuming he still has the same wife! ;-)
