Oil & Water by granagringa

Oil & Water

I'd never tried one of these abstracts before....a few drops of oil floating atop some water in a glass bowl. The bowl was elevated a bit from the old watercolor palette below.
Nicely done for your first attempt. You were able to get some cool formations of oil and water. These are really fun to do! However, if you don't mind me mentioning, it seems like your focus was a bit off. Looks like the camera focused on the pattern in the dish you were using, same thing happened to me when trying a shot like this. These can be kind of tough to do without a macro lens or macro adaptor. Perhaps moving back a bit and then refocusing could help. Just my two cents. :)

Great job in envisioning and creating the image.
And I appreciated Chris Johnson's comment on the focus, something for me to remember.

Fantastic effects I could stare at this for a long time just trying to figure it out if I didn't know what it was ahead of time

I've tried this before and did not have as much luck as you did with it. Very nicely done!

@cjphoto Absolutely appreciate your two cents! Thanks for taking the time to do it. I know I'll be trying these again, especially because they are pretty easy to set up when I need that shot-for-the-day.
