Work Uniform....Thermals !!!!

This very large building has been beside the docks at Fleetwood for a very long time . There is a really ugly modern purpose built monstrosity joining on to it which I have cropped off.
It really is a very impressive size & seems to be still used to for the purpose of frozen foods.
I tried to find some history about this original structure but there's nothing at all. I would imagine in Fleetwoods hey day it would freeze all the catches of fish brought in by the fishing fleet...now it's reduced it's status to 'Party Ice'' !!!! How sad !!!
The sea is behind the building & there is still a slight fishy smell so all is not lost !
Fleetwoods Freeport shopping outlet is right next door so I took this photo through their iron railings.
A grey damp drizzly day so not good for taking photos I'm afraid.
i like the selective coloring on this. cool lines, too.

I love a bit of urban grit - I bet they did make ice for fish so it''sgood they've managed to reinvent themselves - still sad though...

So did you buy some fish while you were there Pat? I'll bet they make a killing on their party ice - and it would be way less work than freezing fish. The signage is quite bright and bubbly - I guess that's one way to brighten the building.

Good to see a bit of social history on 365! I got curious and Googled ... it's a family firm started in 1860 and, you're right, originally it was for keeping fresh the fish caught by his fleet. Miss Marple at your service!!

@murnane No I didn't buy any Marg ,I couldn't even find a way to get in !!!! Just a factory churning out ice cubes I think !! There are fresh fish stalls around the town but no fish caught for the trade as far as I know so you might as well buy fish in Manchester !!!

Intersting photo and info. Its funny when a biz is reduced to "party" something - I guess it means its lost all seriousness.

Nicely captured Pat. In spite of the dull damp day, you did a nice job with it.
