Among all the razzmatazz of Blackpool at the height of the summer I found these fishermen at the end of the North Pier quietly & patiently standing doing the sport they love.
I was very unsure how to crop this photo with out losing the height & width of their position above the sea.....I hope you think I got it about right but please advise if you think different.
I love the crop. The negative space on the left gives room for imagining them tossing their lines, you didn't cut off top of poles and you gave sense of them high above water. Nice one
The camera is really worth getting, have just experimented cropping my hay bales to just one, perfect...pixels I suppose, amazing, look out Jessops, she's on her way!! (you that is!)
@fannyb Glad you are liking what you bought Fanny. I have just returned from Garstang Show as I have entered 6 photos for tomorrows competition. It was very interesting looking at a few of the other entries, one guys in particularly caught my eye & we got talking about cameras like you do & he told me of a good camera shop in Lancaster so I might have a look there.
You got this VERY right, I'd say! I think the sepia tones bring out the beauty of the composition...the shoreline in the distance mimics the shape of the deck they are standing on. And your vertical is vertical and your horizontal is so horizontal!! It sounds funny, but I have seen some absolutely gorgeous pictures where the horizon is not horizontal and it drives me crazy!
@bpaquette Thank you so much Barbara & yes I have taken some good pictures & realise the level is all wrong!!!! Was lucky here as I don't always think of that when shooting!!
