A tedious day spent cleaning the dried soil from my walking boots...... woe betide you if you fly into NZ with mud on your boots, re wrapping a large parcel that has to go in the case but was too big.... I have removed all packing & then there was a massive queue in the Post Office.
I ordered our holiday cash yesterday but the new owners of the Post Office got in a tremendous muddle with everything & I was very unsure whether she had charged me too much but thank fully all seems well.
A very bad time to be learning the ropes & people have no patience!
We are out again tonight to the village hall for supper & an evening with a superb dishy singer of John Denver songs.

Will try & catch up over the week end!!!
Three good things:
1. Fiery Jack.
2. The washing dried outside & no more beds to change!!!
3. The hens are going on their holidays.
That looks too good to go out and leave!! We are also out to a dinner party, I dread taking off my thick sweater to change!!! Sounds like you are just about ready for the off! Glad you enjoyed Dear Lupin, the alcoholic airman in the book was the father of a friend of mine!!!
Joy indeed - where's that 'Warm' theme gone?! I'm amazed you're still with us this week with all the things you have to do. Are the hens going to 'young Harry'? All these animals are great until you go away and then it's hard work - or expensive (or if we are lucky Nigel's dad steps in!) I've just given our hens another good clean out - I think they must be standing inside during the day given the amount of mess they've made! You'll be looking forward to that long flight to get you feet up I expect.
@fannyb I have just bled the radiator in our bedroom & a great arc of brown water shot in the air, luckily I was prepared this time¬!!!!! Hate getting ready when it's cold!!! How funny it was to read a few of the names you knew in that book & you knew one personally too ....I would have taken more note if I had known!
@judithg I quite fancy staying in tonight to be honest but will be ok when I have changed! Yes young Harry is having the hens....I have obviously mentioned it before.....i must be getting old & repeating myself!!!! Will be Ok when we have got our baggage through!!
@happypat No you haven't lost it yet!! You just posted a pic of him with his chucks last year sometime! Seems like a small allowance for such a long journey. We had nightmares over the baggage to the karate competition - they are not only carrying weapons they are taking 6 foot long weapons!
@judithg I can imagine ...my heart goes nineteen to the dozen until we are through to departures & I find the staff very officious sometimes. If I hadn't so many things for Christmas wouldn't be so bad but think we will be all OK. Trying to keep a suitcase just for Singapore so we only have to open one.
@happypat I don't like arriving in these strict countries and Nigel always makes me lie about the chocolate in my bag so then I think I'll get arrested. Never dared try NZ or Oz!
@judithg Cathy got fined the equivalent of £80 last time we arrived in Auckland , she had a forgotten apple in her suitcase!! Harry likes to get some ordinary food from the airport to eat as he's not keen on the food on Singapore Airlines,! Just eat the chocolate Judith!!!!
I love the bowl of joy - and the warmth in the background too. Hope you enjoyed your John Denver evening - I used to have all his LP's. Probably still do - somewhere.
Love the background lighting and the puddles of light on the table. Would they take your boots away if they were muddy? I imagine they wouldn't want any foreign chicken poo coming in. Haven't heard any John Denver in a while...will have to check this website.
A beautiful, warm and inviting holiday image, Pat. Good for you, with all that you have going on in preparation for your trip, to keep up with your 365 posts!
did you go to a john denver tribute act last year pat ...i seem to recalll you did ...just a tiny crop off the top Pat to take that bright light that catches your eye....super warm colours and a lovely shot to oshare
Lovely cosy atmosphere here Pat. Amazed you have time to take pics and comment with all that you are doing before your trip!! I remember once trying to explain to some very officious customs men somewhere what a christmas pudding was.......no one understood anything and it was in the days when they would give up and just tell you to pack it all away and be on your way!!
Lovely warm Christmassy shot! Love the narrow depth of field, the reflected light, and the blue of the flowers contrasting the red tones of the background.
Sounds like you are down to the wire! Have fun tonight.
Congratulations on the new camera!
