The annual Christmas Market was just getting under way when I drove through the village this morning.
Lovely frosty clear morning, so much more seasonal than last years rain & wind...really gets you in the mood.
Lots of stalls, hot dog stands & children's rides as well as Father Christmas & carols later in the day.
Harry & I have had a lazy afternoon in front of the wood burner , catching up on Strictly Come Dancing etc.
Three good things:
1. Loved watching the tour round The White House with the O'Bama's dog BO ............so cute !
2. We have signed up the singer from last night to sing at our annual dinner dance in February.
3. Talked to all my brothers & sisters on the phone before we go away.
I am usually a bit of a 'Bah humbug' person but I am loving all the fun of getting ready for Christmas this year. Can't get enough.
I would love a ride in that carriage.
That's the way to spent a Sunday. I meant to go to our local Winter Fair last night before we went out - they've run it the last few years but I've never been - and then I completely forgot until Adam told me this morning that it was all over FB that it was really good! Well I'm enjoying your instead.
@phil_howcroft I was looking at those lenses in the shop the other day when Harry bought his new camera. Would like one & it wouldn't break the bank!!!! Might get some money for Christmas, I suppose I will be able to buy one in NZ? I also have my eye on a 10-22 lens which is a lot more money but I wondered if that might do a similar shot as the 50mm . What do you think Phil?
@judithg I remembered after the event that it was the annual Father Christmas run along the prom at 10.30am...it would have been very photogenic & I could have kicked myself!!
@peggysirk She was running across the road to the fairground rides Peggy. We should have stirred ourselves & gone later as it's quite a sight when Father Christmas rolls into town !
@happypat a 10-22 is ideal for landscapes and should do good 'group pictures' only trouble is at such a wide angle you might get a bit of distortion on close up portraits ......i've not got a lens as wide as 10-22 so i am not qualified enough to comment from my own experience, i'm just commenting from my knowledge of photography.
I really like my 50mm , it takes fab pictures with gr8 bokeh, especially in low light ....I bought it for the wedding next year :) , just to do people pics
btw: thnanks for the understanding comments on how i struggle in winter with weekday pics...i really enjoy 365 , so i'm hear for the long haul, albeit as a 4 or 5 pics a week kind of guy :)
@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil i will treat myself to the ''nifty 50 ''in NZ probably a better buy than clothes etc!!! No good doing 365 if it's a chore , we have done our time so it has to be pleasure & friendship now!!!!
@kwiksilver thanks Gillian I do love sepia photos rather better than b/w but once I have seen a photo in colour that's it for me. I love other peoples monochrome but have never seen those in colour to compare.
Haha, "The White House with the O'Bama's dog BO" - I googled it and watched it, it is adorable. But I am pretty sure the Obamas aren't the O'Bamas. Unless they are Black Irish. Oh my, probably not politically correct in any language, but I had to say it!
I would love a ride in that carriage.
when ru off to NZ....if you can stretch your budget to a 50mm f1.8 lens it will take amazing portrait / people pics of your family... £99 from jessops..
