Timeless. by happypat

Timeless.

A finishing off day today.
I have been dropping off presents, collected a meal voucher, picked up the holiday money & been to Cathy's.
This old fashioned timeless cottage is about 1 mile from Cathy's house. An old lady lives there in amazing conditions of primitive living.
We once went a tour round for a history of the place. I remember she had old fashioned tapers to light oil lamps.
I took some photos & originally there was only one gander in sight but gradually all the poultry came out to see who was there.
She lives in the thatched house in the background.

Three good things:
1. Put my phone on roaming.
2. Loving the sight of all the Christmas trees going up.
3.Going to open Christmas presents from friends after tea tonight.
How amazing...looks idyllic but such hard work, a truly lovely chocolate box shot!!

Very pretty scene. I am glad that there is place in our society for ladies like her.

@redrucksack I agree Eva & she is a great painter too, wins lots of prizes in the local shows.

Aren't the poultry funny! Looks kept up nicely...although I am fond of my creature comforts. And internet!

Love this shot and the gander with his foot in the air. You can hardly see the thatched house but on closer inspection it looks a reasonable size. Just goes to show that it's not that long since people lived very differently and with far fewer 'needs'. Hope the NT get hold of it and preserve it!

PS I'm excited for you with the trip - is Cathy envious?!

@judithg Cathy & family are coming with us Judith, only Jack staying behind. He is intent on getting into Leeds & he has exams in January so is quite happy to stay at home. He drives & his other grandparents are 1 mile away. He has been to NZ before & to be truthful it's not his scene, he is not into farming at all!! Cathy is slightly stressed leaving him but he will be away from home next year anyway.
Shame really as would be lovely to have everyone together.

@happypat Oh fabulous!! This exam business really is a nuisance. We are going to be severely hampered this holiday by GCSE mocks in January. We left Rachel for a week in the summer when she was 17 and it was the week she got her AS results (oops - my mistake!). She was fine - not at all desperate for us to get home apart from the friend she had staying didn't do very well so she couldn't really celebrate her own results! And we left her again in the middle of A-levels on her own - she couldn't wait to get rid of us - no nagging and anything she wanted on the telly!

This would make a nice jigsaw puzzle. Sounds as if you are getting close to leaving
