Brian, (our eldest son) & I together with William & Alex our twin grandchildren & their dog Izzy climbed Parlick on New Years Day the last Christmas before they emigrated to New Zealand in 2009.
The dog emigrated with them at some considerable expense but it would have been unthinkable to leave Izzy behind.....it will be the first time Harry has seen her since they went, I wonder if she will remember him!
I have since thought I don't like the shadowing.
Three good things:
1. A clean car.
2. Lunch out with friends at the ''mushroom ''place.
3. I am re reading ''The Hobbit ''in preparation for my visit to Bag-End.
Thats some climb!! and no snow either!! I don't think animals forget....did you ever see the u tube thingy of the 2 boys who bought a lion cub and kept it in London? They had to release him into the wild when he got too big, they went back to the reserve some years later, having been warned it was dangerous and the lion rushed up and cuddled them, brought tears to my eyes!! Anyway a lovely shot!!! :))
@fannyb Yes I have seen that programme & it was a wonderful moment when he came out of the wild to greet them! I think he is dead now as they never saw him again I believe.
I always like seeing that program Christian, again! Izzy will try to climb all over Harry! Great hill! My Mums travels take her to Oxford now! Your travels in 2012 are to my country! Swopsy!
I've been wondering if Monty will remember Rachel - I imagine he'll make too much annoying fuss either way! Very exciting to be reading The Hobbit and being on the way there (sort of!)
@judithg Hobbit land is in Matamata which is about 15 to 20 miles from where Brian & Lesley live, it was always a tourist site for The Lord of the Rings but since the making of The Hobbit it's all been re done with a hill & tunnels so I am looking forward to going & having a look.
@phil_howcroft I think she will too Phil. She is a Lancashire Heeler & all there !! She went on her own in a crate all the way down to Heathrow, travelling on her own & they picked her up at the other end.
The shadow works well when viewed large. Great patchwork and terrain. Bet it was a lovely hike. Who will be watching Tui when you go? Too bad this Labrador Inn is so far away!
This is an absolutely gorgeous view! I like the shadowing...it tends to put the shot in the context of a memory. I imagine that was a rather poignant farewell hike you made with your New Zealand bound family several years ago. I know you must be getting very excited about your impending departure what, only two more days to go?!! I suspect, like others who have commented, that Izzy will be wildly excited about seeing Harry!! Well done to you, Pat, for finding the time to post (and comment) with all that you have going on in preparation for your trip!
