All back to normal ready for the Easter guests...the first ones in here are actually two children.
Harry & I have spent the morning putting head rails up & hanging a couple of pictures.
The brass plaque had to go back up even though it doesn't really blend in, it's one of my favourites ;The Childs Prayer, which goes:
When I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
I have bought two mattress toppers which have made the mattresses really sumptuous....been in too many fancy hotels lately & got spoilt!!! The bed on the left is not made up properly as only one topper has come from Dunelm Mill.
Three good things:
1. Somebody has taken on our Horticulture Marquee at this summers show!! Hooray!!
She has been to see me this afternoon & taken away the stuff!!! Quite hard trying to explain all to be done & I made light of it but she doesn't know the half!!! I said I would help her all I can without getting involved!
2. Harry has been to the tip with all the old carpet.
3. Feel straight at last in the house.
Looking very comfortable indeed, Pat. I can see you've put a lot of attention to detail in the room. I like the slanted row of books above the curtain pelmet, and the little cross stitched things hanging off each bed (filled with a fragrance I guess?) I can't tell what the pictures are of.
@sabresun Thank you Matt, I need some nice book ends for the books as they keep slipping but I do like a room with books. The picture you can see over the chair is of a nurse in a uniform around he time of the second war & she is standing behind a soldier with her hand on his brow. It was my mothers as she used to wear a similar uniform, my Daughter in law has the same picture as she is a nurse too.
@happypat It's always the personal touches that make a room. Your midwifery and nursing background, I know that is something that you take great pride in. And rightly so. :)
Oh this is so lovely Pat! Love the colour and the wallpaper and the bedlinen and the whole effect..............and the photo!
And lovely to have a prayer to share.
You'll enjoy the new look a lot and so will the guests.
And your 3 good things - what a relief to get the Horticulture Marquee stuff off your hands!
This looks wonderful and my sort of colours. I 'd love to come and stay some time and sit in that sumptuous chair in the corner. Have you found that lots of 365ers want to come and stay with you?
@khirsch@busylady All very welcome specially 365ers! An odd one or two have mentioned coming but @sarah19 is the only one so far & her family have been many times here & at the other farm from when their children were very young. Sallie is the one who introduced me to this project so I have a lot to thank her for.
@fannyb Yes the blue room Fanny...the only thing that spoils this room is the bathroom belonging to it is a short way down the landing, dressing gowns on the back of the door but folk always pick the ensuite first.
@judithg I am pleased with the wallpaper & so was the decorator as I almost picked Laura Ashley & apparently they hate putting LA as it stretches & goes thin after the paste is put on.
@bpaquette@chris17 Thank you Barbara & Christine you have noticed all the things I like...thanks for the follow Christine I will check you out over the w/e!
I just love everything about this room - the colours, the bedding, the curtains, the lights, the comfy chair in the corner! I hope the children don't jump on the beds!
I am definitely making a booking next time I'm in your area! Your B&B looks so inviting! Mattress toppers?? I'll have to google ;) Obviously haven't stayed in any upmarket hotels recently!
