Glamorous Post Person competition.... I think here is the winner Tony!!!!
Tony for the people who don't know is our postman...but what he lacks in glamour he makes up in niceness!! This lady is a Garstang post woman...very pretty girl!!
Trying to post a link to a previous photo of Tony I have deleted all the rest of this post twice!!!
Here goes again if I can remember what I wrote before!!!!
Three good things:
1. Boden stuff arrived & I like!!
2. All stocked up for a full house at the weekend, four adults & five children so I hope I can keep up!!!
3. More cupboards tidied out today....not like me at all!!!!
Love the matching gear. Hope your guests behave themselves. I think I've cleaned out more cupboards this Spring than I've ever done. It must be all this miserable weather making us stay inside!
I getting confused.that does not look like a Tony to me and when I clicked on your link it said sorry!! Whoever that is impersonating Tony looks very glamorous to me!! I should be cleaning cupboards but I will i promise!! Glad the Boden stuff fits! and good luck this weekend!!
@barbsmith I can assure you Barb that is not the case...some of these cupboards hadn't been cleaned out for about two or three years!!! Thanks for your misplaced praise though!!!
@bpaquette They've been using these trolleys a few years now Barbara ...so much junk mail to deliver but the PO is paid to take it round so worth their while...straight in the bin though!!!
That trolley gets around. Must be hard work at the beginning of the shift, to eventually get somewhat lighter after they've dropped off the last of the junk mail at your house, Pat. :) I've only ever seen them in your photos though, the trolleys that is. I've seen junk mail most days, although the heyday of junk mail seems to be past? I like the red and orange pops in this shot.
@beryl Never Beryl, it is me , when I read it back I wasn't sure myself but most folk have seen our postman before so know what Tony looks like. I tried to copy & paste a photo but for some reason it never works for me on 365 ...other places yes but here no!!
You copy the subject liine at the top, Pat - which looks as if you did here! Never mind, I like Beryl with the blonde ponytail striding along the street in front of this lovely old whitewashed building! I don't envy you with a house full of guests but being four adults they can entertain themselves and their children without you - who will be in the kitchen whipping up lots of nice dishes!
Actually she looks a lot like ours - it's no wonder she's always running around if she has to do Garstang as well! Actually ours have much smaller trolleys and getting the letters is a real lottery these days. They have to go really fast and then the neighbours have to play pass the letter to deliver to the right address. Goodness knows what we're not getting.
@fannyb Sorry missed your comment at first...must be my rambling on explanation of this photo Fanny, I do go on a bit & not always as clear as I should be... ! Thank re weekend, have not had a full house like this for ages ...hope I can keep up!!
@judithg Do I Judith, I have tried before but it never seems to work on 365 which is infuriating as it is useful to show relevant pictures. Will have a go & thank you Judith. You sound like you are doing PO work yourselves, I must agree they seem very busy & we don't get our post until mid afternoon some days, mind you Tony chats to all & sundry but no one minds.
What memories - Seed's stationer still going strong in Garstang. Often popped in here ehen mum and dad lived at Catterall or even longer since in the 60s when as a teenager I fished the Wyre behind the Doc's surgery. Dr Jackson who lived there was the husband of my cousin - Annie Nicholson!
@judithg Oh it was disaster Judith the whole bally lot disappeared when I tried to delete the last bit of the link...have given up this time but will remember !!
@tonybeale Yep still here Tony, some new people have bought it & they have stream lined it all inside........it was a bit full of all sorts of lines...cake decorations for one as you will no doubt remember. Just stationery etc now but it is pretty quiet ..hope they can keep going!
No doctors surgery there now, all moved to the newish health centre on Kepple Lane but the Wyre still there of course, in fact I walked along there this afternoon.
superb colours, the reds and oranges are great Pat. I always like a postie shot as my dad was a postie and I was a "temporary christmas postman" for three holidays (when they used to employ students to take on the extra workload) !
I have been cleaning cupboards also. Somebody has to do it - or we have to move....
