After house number 2 there is a slight right hand bend where the lane is at it's widest part.
This is where the library van parks & all delivery vans & the dustbin wagons have to turn round & back down the lane...there is nowhere to turn round as it is too narrow.
House number 3 is occupied by four people, a retired couple in the main part of the house & another couple in the rented granny house which is the section on the right behind the right hand tree.
Three good things:
1. New insoles for my red walking shoes.
2. Met Harry for a light lunch after the dentists.
3. The hedges are becoming greener by the minute!
I thought you were number three? Can't make any wild statements about this house in case I'm right! I can say that it is a beautiful elegant English house and would be the envy of many! I could live here very happily!
@kwiksilver There are eleven houses all together Gillian & the lane will be about 250 metres long...guessing that is & houses both sides of the road. Every house completely different! Thank you for your interest!
Thank goodness I didn't say 'This one's rubbish' ;0)) it is fab of course - didn't know you had a granny annexe - very useful when you're away to have people around.
@judithg The granny annexe is actually where Brian & family lived when we all worked on the farm, it has three double bedrooms so not really an annexe but taxed as all one house. We rent it out now & it makes a good income for us retired folks!!!!! i always think too if things don't work out in NZ for any of them we have this place for them to come back to!! Took a bit to get used to having strangers next door but the two lots we have had in 4 years have been lovely. They mind the dog a bit too!!
I LOVE your house, Pat...the most charming of all the delightful homes on your lane!!! Like @judithg, I had to scroll back up and see what I had said about this before I knew it was yours. Apparently I know charm when I see it. :)
@peggysirk Thank you Peggy, I think it is one of the oldest, added on to in various parts over the years, quite low beamed ceilings with wide doors....quite a few banged heads in the doorways!!!
When our farm went up for sale 4 years ago we had almost bought the barn, number 11 & I must say I had visions of open plan living, wood floors etc etc but no one bought the farm only the land & buildings so we stayed put & I am glad now. Apparently the barn is a little noisy & of course needs Air con on in the summer!!!! Our house will want painting outside this year I think but when the trees are out it does look pretty.......my first real home of my own...another story completely!!!!
Now this is a lovely looking house and situation. Very pleasing indeed. I could definitely live here. Do you think they have long to live, the current owners that is? (just kidding) Email me if there is a change in circumstances. :P
@sabresun Hehe Matt as far as I know they don't plan to be deceased anywhere in the near future but we will definitely be in touch with you when that happens!!! LOL !

I'm liking the virtual amble down your lane with all the titbits of info.
