Breakwater by happypat

Breakwater

A black & white shot today.....I always mostly prefer colour & I do like this better in colour but am trying to be different!
Our trip to the cinema this afternoon was to see Jersey Boys. We enjoyed simply because we remembered the songs...anyone not of that era would not be so keen & think it quite an odd film.
Mostly of an older age group all the audience seemed to enjoy it...you can tell if people sit to watch the credits if they have enjoyed it or not I find!

Colour version here. http://365project.org/happypat/photos-i-can-t/2014-06-25

Three good things:
1. A very welcome sit down all afternoon after a busy morning changing all three rooms plus breakfasts!
2. I have given in & booked myself at the physios tomorrow ....my shoulder is really troubling me so after a month I need to get it fixed!
3. The Wimbledon App on my iPad.
Super B&W I think this works perfectly

I just love the POV on this shot! And it looks great in B&W!

Beautiful shot Pat -- I, like you prefer colour than b/w as you have more to please the eye and admire --I suppose you could say in b/w you can use your imagination more ,but one's imagination can be less well tuned in than your sight !!-- Now after that rambling !! Lovely grey leading lines in this Pat ,leading well into the distance and the grey sea
Was it a hot or cold grey day ?? --Sorry ! lol !

@beryl this afternoon Beryl....grey cloud, hazy but warm. Took it after we came out of the cinema all bleary eyed! I might post the colour version in extras to see which is best!

@denisefuller @320days thank you both!

Great image! Love the B&W!

B and w for me. The textures stand out. My eye is drawn all the way to the sea.
June 25th, 2014
I too prefer the b and w, the breakwater leads your eye right in and I like how the pebbles are blurred in the foreground.
June 25th, 2014
I like them both but prefer this one. I love the beach/sea in black and white and especially this photo with all those gorgeous tones in the wood and the supports.

I like this one best Pat, I think the crop works better,, though the tones of the colour version look good as well,,, hedging my bets a bit..

Liking this in b&w. Great composition

@denisefuller @320days @beryl @helly31 @newbank @cazla @julzmaioro @fueast
Very interesting to see what everyone thinks so thank you all so much for taking the time to give your opinion. I sometimes myself like a b/ w shot but generally speaking if I have seen one of my own photos in colour I find it incredibly hard to prefers b/w version . I had forgotten when I uploaded the other one that I had cropped this a bit so not a true copy.

I love this one Pat. Love the pov and the b&w brings out the textures more, fav for me.

@jesperani thank you so much Jennifer, I appreciate your fave & comment!

I love this is BW Pat, love everything about it and a FAV

Great point of view and overall lovely scene.
June 25th, 2014
@lucypics thank you for the fave Lucy...I think the b/ w is winning slightly!
June 25th, 2014
I'm anxious to see that one too. I like both shots
June 25th, 2014
This is fabulous Pat. I really like the line and I love B&W
June 25th, 2014
I have to add that I really like the b&w version as well. Brings out the detail in the stones and water, rather than the breakwater itself.
June 25th, 2014
I really like this in b&w. Great job.
June 25th, 2014
Hope you get your shoulder sorted.
I like this in b&w ...... but then I love b&w!!! lol :)
June 25th, 2014
While I like the B&W one for its simplicity and texture, I really love the coloured one - the sand looks so beautiful! Your B&B work after they go is always the tough one - changing sheets, washing, cleaning bathrooms!
June 25th, 2014
@maggiemae I would have sailed through it but for my sore shoulder maggiemae.....I hope it gets better soon! Was glad to have sit down this afternoon I can tell you! Not that often I have all three rooms full so more work than usual.

I cam back to see if you had put up anything else and it was this again. I still do like this b and w. Maybe it's the crop, but it also shows off the end of the board near us very well.
June 25th, 2014
This is nice too but I much prefer the colour version!
June 26th, 2014
Pat, this is great. Love the perspective
June 26th, 2014
Yes this is definitely more dramatic. Love the perspective. Both shots are really good though.
June 26th, 2014
Really cool pov - I love the grain in old wood and this looks especially lovely in b&w. Fav
June 26th, 2014
I think this really works in b+w... really defines the textures! Fav
June 26th, 2014
Well I was going to say the colour one and then I looked at this one and I really like his one too. I think I'm Faving this one! I need to bite the bullet and get myself down to the Physio - think he might need to get his needles in my muscles again. Thanks for the heads up on the film - we are out of our routine again and need to remedy that (with a different film!)
June 26th, 2014
I also like this in b&w it shows the contrast light and shade
June 26th, 2014
brilliant POV Pat , love the mono too, faved :)
June 27th, 2014
This has the classic timeless fell but the colour just transports you to the beach.
