We met Alex at Manchester Airport this morning.
A 26hour flight & she emerged looking pretty good considering.
She said she was very surprised to see us so early as in Auckland after passport check & baggage collection you still have to go through customs & have your bags Xrayed whereas in the UK it was passports, collect bags & you're done!
Not good really in this day & age......no departure slip either filling in where you are going in the country...we are very lax!
Three good things:
1. Good to look forward to four weeks of Alex's company.
2. We have booked a train ride to Glasgow shopping on Friday, myself, Alex & Lydia.
3. A visit from a brother today who brought with him my Dad's war time log book.
What an exciting moment for you both and she does look like the joys of spring in spite of her 26hr flight -- A lovely capture and do enjoy the 4 weeks togetherness !!!
How lovely to see her and she does look fresh as a daisy! Enjoy your time together. I agree with you that getting into this country is far too easy. No wonder all sorts of unsavoury people manage it
totally agree, we have been watching nothing to declare which is filmed in Australia, and wish that we adopted some of their rules and fastidiousness, nice shot
She wouldn't come straight from Auckland though? There must have been an intermediate point but I know we found that too in Manchester - just walk out! You are supposed to be all clear if you haven't stopped and got off. The railway station in Glasgow is supposed to be wonderful isn't it?
Yes we don't trust any one over this side of the world... I must look a bit dodgy as have been checked for explosives more than once... Hope you have a lovely time with Alex.. tell her the weather here is not much chop today...
@maggiemae yes Glasgow station is lovely , will take a photo. Yes Alex came straight through from Auckland as we do from Manchester to Auckland & never see our luggage but still have to go through your rigorous checking....good job too!
Yeah well there you go - we let any old pathogens in to our country! What a lovely trip you will have to Glasgow - I was thinking Lydia must be excited. They look like each other in your photos at least. When we went to Scotland we flew up to Glasgow - it would be lovely to hop on the train!
