Spotty hens & a view. by happypat

Spotty hens & a view.

A filler today I'm afraid....I have been out briefly to have my hair cut but the weather is so bad it's not fit to be out.
High winds, squally showers & cold so not the right time to be taking photos.
This shop now called The Spotty Hen used to be a well known cheese shop in Kirkby Lonsdale & I was surprised to see it was now a dress shop. The cheese shop used to have a piano in it so if you fancied having a tickle of the ivories you were very welcome. Perhaps some one out there knows what happened to that shop?

The entrance to the church with its nicely arched gate is along side the shop & this is where you walk to see Ruskins View.

Three good things:
1. Proper chips for tea.
2. Warm inside the house.
3. I have finished writing the Christmas cards...I hope!
I hope your hair did not get blown about, Pat. Last time I went to the hairdresser, it was a similar day for weather.
From cheese to dresses eh?! Good in b&w and looks an intriguing alleyway.

I like this juxtaposition of close - up with faraway vanishing point.

A beautifully composed street view and all the better for b&w. By the look of the expectant garments in the shop window, perhaps this shop should be called The Clucky Hen. :)

@quietpurplehaze I didn't have my hair blow dried Hazel as it was a fitted in appointment so I went home & dried it myself....I prefer that actually.

@snaphappi ha ha Maggie but it's not a maternity shop.......these are more tunic style dresses I think to wear with narrow leg trousers.

@cejaanderson thank you Jane.....I did like the distance of the church gates.

Great shot of the shop and the area beside it! So English. I love the name, Spotty Hen, - when shops have good names it seems as if they have intelligent owners and so the goods are quality. Keep cosy with Alex!

Very pretty though I do like a good cheese shop! Just groaned at the end though - I still have Christmas cards and the 'Christmas letter' to do. It isn't really a letter as those are all cringy - just a few photos really and a little bit of bumf that takes forever to compose!

@maggiemae thanks maggiemae.....I did go in this shop but didn't find anything that grabbed me....loved the name though. Would have preffered the cheese shop! It's very wild here tonight......you can hear that wind whistling round the corners!

@judithg it all gets on top of us women......so much to do & I love getting cards but hate writing them.......I would love to be so organised with computer expelled labels with all the names & addresses on. I used to write a sort of catch up letter but now it has turned into a quick write of the inside of the card.

I see I've missed lots of your lovely shots, this looks a great place for a browse. I was trying to find the one where you said your tree fell over, 'cos guess what - our tree just fell over! I had just put the last decoration on, walked out of the room then I heard Peter give a shout! It had descended to the floor! Ah well there's always tomorrow!
