I picked up my order from Pebby's early this morning. Beat the rush and you can see it's only just going light! The shelves were full of Christmas food, the variety and amount was just tremendous!
Three good things:
1. We don't need to slave over a hot stove if we don't want to!!
2. The last parcel has arrived safely from NZ & vice versa....just in time!
3. I got a turkey from M&S, fresh & surprisingly reasonably priced! We are out for our dinner Christmas Day so had left our turkey until the last minute so was panicking a little, we do like a bit of cold turkey to go at & a buffet on Boxing Day.
Looks lovely! it was quiet when I went to collect my turkey - a bit sad as I quite like the queue at Christmas. I think the butcher's has moved into younger hands though - not quite the array of singing Santas that they used to have!
@judithg yes it was a bit lacking in atmosphere here too Judith but I had an appointment to have my nails & eyebrows done first appointment this morning so went too early! Not much seasonal cheer as I would have liked!
Actually a lot of people were commenting on that - the weather is all wrong and a lot of people have finished work on Friday and got ahead I suppose so quite quiet - no doubt it will get going tomorrow.
Nothing like going cold turkey! At it is even better! I've just got cold ham and chicken drumsticks for a picnic but with a golden cole slaw I made which lasts for weeks - i.e., - if we don't eat it! Lovely light in this shop and all those shelves of fresh bread! Why bake it yourself!
This is my kind of shop. It has been really odd this year. Dave didn't mention he needed bananas until I'd done my big shop. I was on my way out for a pamper session when he remembered! Men! The thought of a long queue was terrible, bit as I drove past a well known store there were only a few cars in the carpark so I got what I needed, no problem
Nice shot. I love the blue light...I was up way after the blue hour had gone to day, but tomorrow I might make an effort to get up early and enjoy as much of the day as possible!
What a great array of tasty looking things to eat. I was just thinking the same about lack of Christmas atmosphere until I went to Ashwell and found a Carol singing Morris man entertaining the queue at butchers!
