I thought I would take a photo,of pancakes today. Had plans to take a clever photo of syrup dripping onto a lovely golden pancake! Worked quite well after lots of tries & the pancake covered in syrup but when I downloaded I was mortified to see the tiles round the Aga aren't as pristine as I would have liked.....I have since been over the grouting with a Brillo pad but you won't get to see the deleted pancake pictures!
I ate the pancake!
Instead of pancakes you have teatime for the girls....I knelt on my knees outside with the camera poked through the poop hole! The other girls were sitting on the perches so I couldn't get them all in!
Three good things:
1. Harry has purchased the seed potatoes.
2. They are resurfacing one of the very pot holey roads in the village. ( is that how you spell holey...is there such a word I wonder?)
3. Full up with B&B tonight.
Hysterical, I bet only you would have noticed the tiles.
I did a great bacon and eggs shot but cut the pigs head off! Still to do that one again, if the chickens play nicely and go back into the pig pen. ;0)
I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed the state of your Aga with those delicious pancakes in mind, but I love this shot - great pov, worth getting chooky-poo on your knees for. fav.
Sounds like mu husband who ate the strawberries I was going to photograph last summer. The important thing is that you enjoyed the pancake Pat. Love the chooks
@claireuk I must say the tiles look perfectly clean to me but when you condensed the tiles & then the rope bit on the Aga lid it looked shabby! Do try the pigs again!
@cejaanderson Well I did think it turned out better than I hoped....it was a sort of blind shot.....the hens didn't seem to be worried about the camera poking through!
Super shot and a great way to get the down to their level in the comfort of their own home ! (poo hole or not !) . My dilemma if I take a shot I take in the kitchen is that in a photo I always see clutter that has not been put away ! and then I hurriedly tidy up before I take another shot !!
The ladies make a wonderful fill in for your nixed pancake photo, Pat. ☺ I have a feeling that only you would have noticed the tiles not being up to your standards. I had to laugh at your story...I've scuttled many photos for similar reasons. ☺
So glad the B&B business is booming! You've been a busy lady.
@beryl Exactly Beryl & normally I would have just tidied up & taken it again but by the time I had messed with the syrup & cooked the pancake in the middle of the afternoon I just gave up...there was a limit to how many props I could eat!
@peggysirk A photo shows every flaw in a house & even worse a selfie! Thanks Peggy.......I bet your tiles are pristine! It looked worse because you could see the rope that goes round the lid that comes down over the hot plate. It's only when you see it really close up it looked untidy! Yes half term this week for schools so busier than a normal week in winter. Money for NY so let them all come!!
Sweet chirpy shot of the hens ... they look very well cared for. I just had to laugh at your accompanying tale ... I took a photo of pancakes (well one of them!) and noticed the frying pan in the distance about to slide off the edge of the stove ... may. post it anyway ... :)
You can come clean my tiles pat!! I never seem to be on top of my housework. Never seem to have been in top of since no 2 arrived nearly 3 years ago. Oh well.... Pancakes tomorrow here as daddy away with work today. Looking forward to them.
@newbank Well you have an excuse Ruth.......to be honest they weren't that bad just when you concentrated on the close up! Pancakes....yummy, I bet they go down well!
There are now so many things to think of when taking a photo - things on the bench, paintings on a wall, chair legs, reflections, half a person's face! Thats the difference between ordinary peoples' photos and our 365 photos! Always striving to be better. Your chook house looks frightfully clean!
Cool ..... and nice to see inside. Suddenly reminded me of when I was very little, and closer to hen height, and getting the eggs with granny who had hens at the top of her garden.
Very clean Pat - might do ours tomorrow as the sun is threatening to come out again. And maybe I should clean out the drinker as yours looks pristine. Our girls were hungry tonight - they had plenty of food but it hadn't dropped out of the hopper properly. Nice that yours have lots of dry under cover space - and shade - I might have a word with Nigel about building a shelter. I'm sure he'll be delighted!
@judithg l. Harry looks after those hens so well Judith, there would be no scruffy tiles if he was in the kitchen all day! They are like this all the time, cleaned out every three days! The cabin is quite big, I would hold about one dozen easily. Hoppers can be temperamental!
@maggiemae@jtookey150 Sorry have resorted to doubling up....B&Bers have just arrived. See above for Judith for hen cabin talk ....these retired folks have to fill the day doing something! Younare sorriest maggiemae re the stuff that gets in the way for a good picture! Trouble is sometimes you don't notice till afterwards!
@julzmaioro@gijsje@sarah19 Hens can be comforting & remind us of our youth....I suppose it's a pastime or hobby that has stood the test of time so many of us remember our families having hens....not much changed there! Glad you relate to the tiles!
Great shot and isn't it funny that you don't notice the mess until you take a photo. Glad you enjoyed the pancakes. Have to admit I never even thought of Shrove Tuesday. I guess it isn't as popular in Oz.
@happypat Will have to wait until Saturday, we are out for dinner tonight and tomorrow and out for lunch on Friday. Probably won't have room for pancakes until Saturday. Will look forward to it.
Oh Pat, you are something else!! I think we have all scrubbed photos for not having scrubbed something. At least you were rewarded with pancakes! LEMON and sugar?!?!
I did a great bacon and eggs shot but cut the pigs head off! Still to do that one again, if the chickens play nicely and go back into the pig pen. ;0)
