Taken from The Highline walk last Thursday morning.
It was very interesting looking up the streets as the walkway crossed over each road....I think the road going from left to right would be Ninth Avenue & of course the streets going east to west are numbered but I have no idea what number this street is.
I rather liked this iconic poster in full colour.
Three good things:
1. Harry has power washed the outdoor furniture ready for summer.
2. A visit from Jack & Lydia.
3. Someone has given us a free dropside cot & delivered it today.
@candia Oh thanks for that Candia......I wondered how long that poster had been there, obviously not new then......fantastic splash of vibrant colour I thought! It was a bit chilly walking the Highline!
I used to live in New Jersey Patt so I've been to New York many times. But not for many years and not since the highline was developed. Would love to see it. Such a great city.
@fueast Well I never knew that Alison.....you do get about! We saw New Jersey from the boat but didn't go there....no time! The Highline is great be put would have been better in the warmer weather ....we were quite chilled by the time we got to the end & it was raining. I'm sure you will be back
@happypat it's better to go to New York from New Jersey to be honest Patt and not the other way around! Not a lot to see in Princeton unless you like Cambridge as it's kind of a fake version.
@maggiemae right in one Maggiemae......on the old railway line .....would have been better when it's warmer....the trees & plants out softening the path.
Fabulous shot, so much to look at. Love the street art. I think they call it a mural in the US though. The Kiss is fantastic and the street art underneath of the tram is brilliant too. Got to be a fav.
@judithg I was slightly disappointed in the Highline for some reason. I think it was so cold, no vegetation & a littke bleak. Not the rightbgear of the year & the concept is brilliant. There was a bridge part way round...Adam will know where I mean with a couple of guys selling photos. I bought a picture of this chap called Douglas's bookcase...it has gone to be framed. Was so glad to have a picture souvenir ......I do always try to,pick something querky....interesting chatting to him too.
@happypat Yes - it's very nicely planted for the summer but I think NYers get over excited by a bit of green - I was disappointed in Central Park - I thought it was a bit tatty! You'll have to photograph your picture - sounds fab!
