Harry is having a replacement knee next Saturday so he is flat out catching up with his jobs before he is laid up for a while. The grass is mown in the field & all lawns mowed to within an inch of their lives....he will give them all another go before the eighteenth. It's the thing that's bothering him the most...who will cut the grass!
I expect him to be pretty quick at getting back to normal as he wil do everything he can to get back to his mowing, bowling etc!
I love the smell of creosote!
We are out with friends for a meal in the Trough of Bowland so I have tried to comment as much this afternoon as I can.
Three good things:
1. This afternoon I have been making small lasagnes & cottage pies for Jack to put in the freezer at uni.
2. Second evening in a row with no cooking!
3. Harry thought to put plastic gloves on before he started!
Beautiful --it is kept so nice clean and tidy with you both ! Best wishes to Harry I wish him a speedy recovery -- at least he can expect good weather to recuperate after the op !
A lovely scene, looks like a lovely countryside area. Hope Harry's op goes well. John had his knee replaced a few years ago, and it's fine. Just have to do the exercises after the op,even if they are uncomfortable at first.
Gorgeous scene - hope the knee op goes well. I laughed when you said no cooking tonight ..... After making all those meals for Jack at uni! I know where Harry's coming from over the lawns as I like ours to be tidy too, but that's a job I love to do - I'd mow lawns way ahead of cooking!
@dide he he Dianne , I never thought of that......I used to mow every lawn when we were milking cows....Harry never set foot in the garden but now he has a new mower he doesn't think I can manage it! I must admit I am a lot more guns ho & would probably knock into the trees! He has a week before his op so it will be immaculate by then....a well cut lawn goes a long way I do think!
Interesting with the creosote - we had a tonic as children called Lanes Emulsion and it had creosote in it. In the later years people were horrified and took it off the market! I've still got the old jar and box it came in. This scene is so nice and neat!
Hope Harry's surgery goes well. I love the smell of creosote as well. I think it must be like Marmite you either like it or hate it! Great picture and so nice to see a man at work:-)
Harry is such a handy guy to have around! He has been busy, busy!! I will be thinking of the Knowles next Saturday! From what I've heard from others who have had knee replacements, it's like getting a new lease on life...after the recovery period. All the best to Harry! And to his loving caregiver!
And aren't you the thoughtful grandmother getting Jack all set with homemade goodness!
I think you're right - it will drive him mad sitting around. Been in the wars lately though. Feeling bad now - may be I should make Rachel some little dishes!
Thank you all, I am off out at seven so no more comments tonight. Thank you for good wishes re knee!
I love the smell of creosote too.
