A long day yesterday taking Jack back to university after Easter.
I must say I do get to see different places I have never been to before!
I was very impressed with Sheffield...a lovely place set on the edge of the Peak District National Park. We went over the tops along the Snake Pass & the road ended where Jack's student accommodation is situated, couldn't be a nicer place to live!
After getting him settled in we took the bus into town & had a wander round the city & university.
Lovely meal together before setting off back home via M62.
This is the beautiful area of the Peace Garden in the centre of Sheffield.
Three good things:
1. I used my bus pass for only the second time!
2. A lovely day out in a new area.
3. Being asked to share days such as this.
How lovely - a few of our friends have offspring at Sheffield - I stayed in student accommodation there for a conference once. It really is a sudden switch from city to beautiful countryside. Lovely. Nigel's aunt lived there - she was a well known midwife - pioneer of birthing pools but died young of breast cancer - Nigel used to walk her dogs when he was a little boy and spent an hour crying because he lost one - of course she was already home!
Thank you all so much...I am slacking replying tonight as we are glued to The Masters Golf.....I am even missing the delicious Poldark for it.....lovely comments, am much obliged!
@maggiemae well it used to be a steel manufacturing town maggiemae but like all industry in our country that seems to be very diminished now. A beautiful town backed by the National Park it's all hills & parks.
Lovely shot, I am sure Sheffield has changed somewhat since I was last there. We used to travel from Lancashire to Yorkshire over the Pennines, pre M62 days, beautiful in spring and summer, but bleak in winter.
@onewing Still bleak in Winter too Babs but you would be most surprised at the amount of building work .....loads of lights all over the place when we drove along in the dark you could see them all twinkling way below us!
