This afternoon at the little stream by the bridge there was a duck race in aid of Hope children's charity.
Hundreds of ducks were tipped into the water upstream each with a number on its bottom......the first one across the finishing line won £100 & so on.
I have got a little behind wth my viewing & commenting but will endeavour to catch up later. Thank you for all your comments.
Three good things:
1. People who go to great lengths on a cold wet Sunday to raise money for charity.
2. A lovely warm fire to come home to.
3. A better week in store for us.
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy....it is rather a fun way of raising money but wven nicer when it's warm & sunny. I felt sorry for the catchers in the water, very cold today! My eldest son used to be a catcher when he was living here.
A wonderful way to raise money for a good cause -- shame it was not s warmer and sunnier day , especially for those children in the water -- they deserved a prize for doing the catching !
We had an event like that a year or so ago but they haven't done it again - must have been too tricky to catch all those naughty ducks sailing away downstream quite out of control!
While at the Zoo on Saturday they had a 'Blue Duck Race'.. but there was that many people around I could not get in for a shot.. great way for a fund raiser.. Colourful shots..
@phil_howcroft I almost didn't go Phil...it was cold & dreary & my knee was sore from all the walking I did yesterday. You have to show willing when everyone has gone to all that trouble!
Good for you for supporting them Pat. We have a homemade t raft race on the river in summer. Most of them sink but it's great fun and raises money for charity. I've got your number and email somewhere so will be in touch
