The last of the cornflakes for the hens this morning.....the crushed up ones at the bottom of the box.
Unfortunately two of them don't look good today.....a hen can soon die!!
You can see Ginger trying to get some on the wrong side of the fence!
Ginger is our visiting hen from next door.
Three good things:
1. Lovely hymn singing on Songs of Praise as I write this.
2. The skill of Pilots as they twist & turn in the sky above us this afternoon,
3. The Apprentice coming soon to BBC1
Love the scene. Wish it was as green here now. A few drops of rain started to fall on the roof now. I think it is only a few thunder clouds, We do pray for rain because it is very dry here.
@newbank Looking dreary tonight Ruth, thinking we might have PM on one of them. They are looked after so carefully & well fed but Harry says the ill ones are thin, they are wormed regularly so not sure what's wrong!
Ooh I've never tried cornflakes with ours - will do. Went to check if there were any late eggs laid tonight and there was a distinct gnawing sound coming from the big shed - abandoned the idea till tomorrow! Hope the girls pick up - may be moulting season? Cheeky ginger!
@judithg rats! Hope not but you're never far away from a rat. Cathy hasn't any hens just now but I know her neighbours had mentioned they had seen a rat. Really good friends but I think they would prefer to have no hens in their vicinity!
Sounds like your girls get a few extra treats.. had me worried about chooks turning up there toes out of the blue.. just went and checked the Grandies chooks and got a full head count .. alls well with the new additions..
I hope the other hens are not pecking the poorer ones as they do! One doesn't really take hens to the vet or do they? Good to do something with the crushed ones at the bottom of the cornflake box, though you could make afghans if you wanted to make afghans!
Love the action capture of the cornflakes! Hope your hens are OK. No hens round here but it doesn't stop the rats! Living so near the river it's inevitable. My son had them in the cavity walls of his house in London.
