Against a sheltered wall. by happypat

Against a sheltered wall.

I went to the graveyard today to put flowers on mums grave. It would have been her 93rd birthday yesterday, I miss her still.

These are the baby & childrens graves ...very poignant especially as I could hear the school children playing in the field behind.

Three good things:
1. So glad I got up in the night to watch the eclipse of the super moon. Amazing colour even though I missed it at its best.
2. Pick & mix sweets.
3. I'm reading a rather unusual book called Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. Takes a bit of grit to read as its all about life under Stalin ....my word what a era to live under.....I never realised what an evil man he was. Anyway there is a very riveting mystery woven into the story & I am gripped!
Has anyone else read this book!
I have read the trilogy Pat - Child 44 gave me goosebumps. The stress of trying to live in such an environment is really well portrayed. Think the film may be out on demand now - must check it out. Nice to have a grave to go and talk to people.

I like this shot Pat. Thinking of the fact that the school chirldren can be heard from this spot I think maybe its the perfect place for the little souls, maybe they are able to hear them as well and live on not only through the thoughts but also through the voices of others ( hope I'm not getting to philosophical, hope you know what I'm trying to say). Even though it might be harder for the families and parents this way

Lovely shot. I find the children's area at the cemetery very poignant and csn also hear school children. We just had the super moon here big and orsnge when it first csme up but didn't have my tripod with me so just an 'ok' shot.

What a lovely photo Pat and poignant text.

I like the sound of that book. I shall put it on my wishlist. (My children like me to have a wish list and I get most of the things on it at Christmas and for birthdays.)

@judithg So,glad you have given me some feed back...I didn't know there were more to read......must check that out. Thank you. A film too well I never!

@khirsch I do indeed & something similar came to mind. It was lunch time at the school next door & it did cross my mind that these children would most likely to have been pupils there & played in that self same field,

PS The book is now on the list!

@julzmaioro I had plenty of time to get the tripod out & set it up Julz, never gave it a thought & it's a bit late in the dark at four in the morning in my nightie! Especially as I have never used it before! I might rememvpber to set it up,tomorrow as the super moon is around still. I haven't got a big enough zoom either which doesn't help.

@susiemc Easy to read though quite a grim tale...torture & all that but the more you read you are sucked in!

This looks a lovely country churchyard. Is there a church nearby? Sunny and spread with autumny leaves. That book you are reading sounds like one a Book Club should read and discuss!
September 28th, 2015
@maggiemae yes this is a church grave yard & the school belongs to the church too. The leaves are just beginning to change colour & flutter down.
September 28th, 2015
@maggiemae yes would be a good book to discuss! Some might not be Ble to cope with the dark side though!

I have just finished Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan books - needed a couple of days off before starting something new to digest it!

Such a peaceful scene. I love the wall and all the light and shadows, a perfect backdrop for the grave stones.

@judithg I haven't read any of those must check them out! I think if you have persevered through all the series they must be good.

So good to have a quiet place to go and remember your Mum. My Mum would have been 100 this year but died 10 years ago. No I haven't read the book but it sounds interesting.

what a lovely place to rest.

A beautiful resting place, but so sad that these are children's graves. I still miss my Mum too and she died over 20 years ago.

A lovely scene.

Thanks for sharing. Baby graves will always bring a tear to the eye. Lost my baby girl when she was 10 months old.... her brother when he was 29 years. Both will be children graves......

@happypat @julzmaioro Chuckling over your comment about the tripod (or did you mean the nightie) that you had never used beforeā€¦..
A nice image of the cemetery and nice to hear the school children playing nearby. Mothers are so special and so nice that you can visit her grave and have such fond memories.

@sdutoit oh Sylvia that is so sad....I do hope I didn't upset you, was a thought that passed through my mind when I posted. We have a baby grave too......they do bring a tear to the eye. Hard to recover from that but you never forget. X

Really Pat tales of you in the garden in your nightie at 4 in the morning. Really! I must make the effort and persuade my tripod to stand up. I hate the things and never use it. I suppose I should really. The book sounds good just finished my book last night so I might try to find this. I love your picture. My late Sister-in Law's house was next to a church and this reminds me so much of the view over her garden wall.

@thistle a vision I hope no one saw Joyce! I have never had my tripod up once....that reminds me I will set it up tonight for the super moon! Sounds a lovely garden next to the graveyard...I like graveyards!

I love your title for this poignant shot. It's so good to have a grave to visit.
I haven't heard of the book nor the author but it sounds positively harrowing.

A beautiful shot of what is a heartbreaking subject. I like it though :)
