A filler again today as Harry & I have been so busy I haven't had my camera out at all.
This was taken on a recent visit to Sizergh barn when I took the Canadian girls for tea.
These cows are in the milking parlour waiting their turn to go in & be milked.
They smelt warm & the familier smell took me back to our milking days!
Three good things:
1. A good drying day for all the sheets off seven beds!
2. Fathers Day, happy Fathers Day to all dads!
3. We have no one in tonight, the first night off since 27th April! Just noticed that it was the day after I took this photo & the girls had moved on to Glasgow.
Some multi coloured girls here .... Our girls have started to calve .. so its back into it again..
You must really enjoy a night to yourselves this time of year,..
Time to relax a bit with a good book. I just finished Keith Stuart's A Boy made of Blocks. I think it was you who mentioned this book in one of your comments some time ago. It's about the way a father’s relationship with his autistic son is transformed by their shared adventures in a virtual Lego-like world. A wonderful book!
@gijsje I haven't read that one Judith but will look it up. I am just half way through Appletree Yard by Louise Doughty, it's very different but I have read half & I only got it from the library on Friday. PARIS!! 😀
Great photo. ...we forget so easily the source of our everyday food! And don't fully appreciate the whole process. I did see it all happen when visiting relatives in the Western Isles when I was on holiday as a child though. Rich experience!
Isn't it amazing how much memory is triggered by smell.
All those different colours but the same height in backs! I can imagine the smell - very farm like! Hope you have a restful night and perhaps more to come.......... you work so hard - if you paid someone to do it you would be bankrupt!
@maggiemae he he it's a good job we really like doing B&B Maggie but I would not like as many as we had in last night very often. Too much like hard work! Going to enjoy a quiet morning & a lazy morning!
@happypat we did indeed! 4 of my aunts /uncles had their own cow and the milk churns, jugs of cream and butter making was all part of the scene. When you go back year after year for several weeks it's a really big part of you 😊
A nice pattern of backs! Lol! My son has just discovered the tv show '4 in a bed' and we've watched some episodes together....should we look out for you?! :-)

Never mind, Pat. Sleep well.
