I just felt like doing the dresser this morning.
Lots of dust & stuff just plonked here & there, it really was looking in need of a good spruce up! I have to be in the mood to tackle it but it didn’t take me that long & it’s all shiny & clean ready for Christmas. I had to move the string of lights off as they weren’t working anymore but shall buy some more perhaps in Edinburgh this week.
As usual lots of cards, drawings etc gone back on there, I can’t ever throw them out although I do have a tin they go in when new things come to replace these.
Three good things:
1. I watched an amazing film last night by Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame. Called They Shall Not Grow Old it was a re working of old footage from the First World War. It started as small black & white clips which gradually got bigger & turned into colour. Honestly I had to check it was still the old footage it was so clear & graphic. Really brought home to you how futile & horrific war is. Not for the faint hearted as there were bodies everywhere.
2. Glad to be alive & well!
3. We have left over mince & gravy to go with chips!
Nice to get every thing clean and tidy before Christmas - it all looks so lovely and homely Pat . Just realised how near Christmas is by now ! Not really in the mood but I have got my cards ready - to write at the end of the month/ beg of December !
Sort of job you need to do first thing..and be in mood for..i did my kitchen draws out yesterday...mmmm mince and chips.delicious...we had haggis yesterday we got from the Treacle market in Macclesfield last week..with turnips too..
Good job done... always satisfying when you finish a job you were putting off..
I'm hoping that PJ film has more showings as it was on once on Sunday... saw a few clips on TV and a interview with Peter and it looked very good... hes a clever kiwi..
Saw Bohemian Rhapsody the other day .. it's fantastic..
Your dresser is such a lovely feature in your kitchen and your life!! Love the idea of a tin to keep special drawings and things.
Have a lovely time in Edinburgh.....if I was retired I'd be right down to join you. With Susannah being in Amsterdam now there are no Bremners in Edinburgh and I do miss being able to pop down for a weekend or a day here and there. Allan was working there in 1997 for several years, Mon to Fri and then David Laura and Susannah all went to study there.....and work after.
Looks fabulous - I adore a dresser and want one in our next house! I keep a chalk board in my kitchen too. So handy for "to do" things I need to not forget.
