Our little Veg Garden is getting ready for Christmas.
Trees for sale together with wreaths for the door, & holly & mistletoe.
Should have waited really as there were lots of little lights twinkling but not quite dark enough to show up properly.
Three good things:
1. I found the twiggy Christmas tree I bought last year so it looks really nice lit up in the hallway. Sadly not so nice as I would like from the outside as the glass in the hallway is that horrid bubbly glass you use in bathrooms...I hate it!
2. I was very happy to donate again to Wikipedia
.....they never ask for much & I’m an avid user of that website.
3. Heard today our church is opening this Saturday for the first time since the first lockdown...so happy to see everyone again especially this time of the year.
What a lovely looking shop! I just said to my sister that we should go and buy a small tree in a pot plus some lights and decorations as ours are in the loft and we cannot get them!
@pamknowler I think you will enjoy that Pam...even I am tempted to get one but going to resist as we have a beautiful new one we splashed out on last year all packed away...mind you I always love a real tree!
@gijsje Doesn’t it just but I have been boycotting it a bit sadly over the last few months as they have had no covid protection in place. Not even a plastic shield at the counter...the guy in the shop doesn’t even wear a mask...I asked him once when he was sitting on the bench but he only works there...he should have insisted fir his sake alone. It’s very small inside as you can see...Safer at Booths!
Such a lovely old fashioned little fruit and veg. shop with so many produce on the forecourt to entice customers Sorry to hear your above comment - what a shame that they do not hve covid protection in place - they are not helping their trade are they !. The Christmas boxes have come down from the attic and I have started on the lounge ( my always neat and tidy room !) , I shall see what state my little fibre optic tree is tomorrow to put in the back living room ! and my twiggy tree to put in the conservatory !
@beryl Ours is a twiggy tree this year...looks pretty & the older I get the less I can be bothered to tell the truth! Next year I will be raring to go in my new place!
With Paimpont Forest as a backdrop, Christmas Trees are legion. There will be 2 in Paimpont Abbey, one as the backdrop to the crib and another...larger one just inside the main doors. Photo/s in due course.
I remember that bubbly glass - it was in our 1956 brick cottage when we bought it 10 years ago! All gone!
I wish there was a place here to buy a wreath for the door - just felt like it this year.
@maggiemae I’ve always hated that glass Maggie...we have it in the loo & bathroom here & it’s useless! There won’t be any of it in our new house that’s for sure!
it is a cute little local shop, the lack of covid-19 protection is outrageous , you are right to boycott them . As for your church opening , it will be a congregation of only 30 (although a household can be counted as 1)
@phil_howcroft We haven’t been given any instructions how many but will be lucky to muster up thirty anyway Phil!! We get lots of holiday makers in the summer from nearby caravan sites, the elderly ones...the majority are still nervous plus they can’t travel in the same car eg lifts.. I only heard because I met one of the main organisers on my walk so some won’t know.... it will be interesting to see how many turn up. Oh & yes it’s a different time than normal!
@loweygrace Yes they are always saying here...don’t overwhelm the NHS....we are out of lockdown here today but still lots of rules especially for us in the north west who are it tier 3.
@thewatersphotos It’s pretty isn’t it...lifts the spirit but I shan’t b going unless it’s empty! They have done really well over the last few months but no screen protection is not good.
@gijsje I think it’s outrageous & when I think of all the money my niece has had to fork out at her hairdressing salon 50 yards away & has had to close!!
I wish there was a place here to buy a wreath for the door - just felt like it this year.
It really is a shame that they don't have covid protection.
